Michael Anderson
Michael Anderson graduated with a degree in studio art and art education. Since settling in Rochester in 2015, he has been rededicated to pursuing art as a career. After 5 years of exploring the possibilities of oil pastels, Michael is back to his first love of painting and building a body of work inspired by the great abstract expressionist movement. “My goal is to strip my work of all that is nonessential and remove any sense of illusion. Color, value, line, and mark are enough to evoke emotion and tell a story, often without any reference to the real world.”
Artist Testimonial
“Threshold is really important to me, and I’m sure to the whole arts community in Rochester. They provide opportunities to interact with the public, for artists to interact with each other, space to exhibit work, to sell work, performances, classes, you name it. But what I really like, in my experience, is that they’re so professional whether it’s just stopping in to drop off work or organizing an exhibition, they do everything really, really well. They’re true to their mission, they empower artists at all levels. So whenever I interact with them, I feel value, I feel like my work is valued and I feel like I am valued as a person and I really appreciate that.” - Mike Anderson
