Diddly Landscape
by Meg Kartheiser

July 28 – August 12, 2022

Rochester artist and Threshold Arts intern Meg Kartheiser presents a series of papier-mâché sculptures which explore texture, shape, and color from an abstract perspective.

The organic, unidentifiable forms are representations of the artist’s unknowing: unknowing of the future, of purpose, and of desire. Yet, they lend a sense of embracement and tranquility. In continuation and congruence with the sculptures, the accompanying mural seeks to create a landscape of wonderment which further invites viewers to dive into the unknown and embrace acceptance and even celebration of the unfamiliar.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Drawn to abstraction and fluidity of shapes, Meg Kartheiser is a multidisciplinary artist with experience in ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, painting, and drawing. Meg uses she/they pronouns, and was born and raised in Minnesota. She recently graduated from St. Olaf College with a B.A. in Studio Art and Environmental Studies. She is constantly imagining a world of abstraction and reshaping perspective while living in a society filled with "norms," and uses art as a form of communicating ideas and emotions surrounding this theme. As an artist, she loves to collaborate with others and create to form a community of inclusivity.
