Ben Daniels
Born and raised in Rochester, MN, Ben Daniels is a self-taught painter and assemblage artist. Using mixed-media and a variety of techniques, his work comes to life in a fury of texture and tactility.
Ben explores ideas of chronic pain, depth, physicality, and balance with his work. A mindful use of line and shape play with visual aesthetics, giving a certain vitality to each piece. Ben’s watercolors take a heavy gestural approach, layering color and form on parchment. His oil paintings take a more serious tone in his oeuvre. With multiple layers and many textures, his oil and assemblage pieces engage the viewer in a highly dimensional, personal aspect.
Outside of art and painting, Ben works at Mayo Clinic as a medical receptionist. In his free time, he enjoys walks, swimming, playing piano, writing, and partakes in a few computer games. Ben continues to experiment with his creative process - always open to discover better ways to engage his works with the viewer.
