Kevin Petersen
My name is Kevin Petersen; I am an oil painting artist primarily focusing on landscape pictures. I was born in Wyoming and have spent a great deal of time visiting state and national parks throughout the western half of the United States. As a practicing licensed psychologist, I use mindfulness techniques including visualization to reduce stress and anxiety. Being able to mentally place yourself into a path, in the woods, next to a stream, can be very therapeutic and beneficial to both mental and physical health.
My painting interest started as a child watching Bob Ross painting those happy little trees. I finally took the leap of faith to give painting a try in 2017 by signing up for a three-day class with Kevin Hill. Since then, I have continued learning from a number of artists including Kevin to expand my abilities and types of paintings. Alfred Adler and his followers suggested a concept called “The courage to be imperfect.” I follow this mantra in my professional and personal life. I think it is what Bob Ross meant when he said “There are no such things as mistakes, just happy accidents.”
It is my hope that you will enjoy my art and be motivated to seek a higher level of peace and joy in your life. Check out my website to see all of my artwork.
Kevin lives in Rochester, MN with his wife Laura and dogs Chloe and Lucy.
