Kristy Johnson

Hi, I’m Kristy! Bravery In Bloom is my passion project where I share my love of color, joy, and my moments of bravery. BiB was born out of my personal inner work to overcome my fears & dismantle my limiting beliefs — which includes sharing my art & poetry, having become a hiker & yoga instructor, and learning that we as humans are worthy of so much more than we usually believe of ourselves.

I primarily paint with Watercolors & draw inspiration from nature & from my memories living in Arctic Norway, where I first saw the northern lights. I also have a special focus on creating small greeting cards, holiday cards, and other stationary from my paintings — a goal of mine is to bring back the “art of a small handwritten note”. My favorite subjects are florals & bouquets, northern landscapes, and abstract galaxies.

Artist Testimonial

"I was asked what being part of Threshold means to me — the truth of it is that I struggled for many years with my identity and my purpose. I was in post-graduate school for many years, and my pursuit of becoming a dentist and a periodontist began to define me. I absolutely love my work and am really honored to be able to do that job, but I just knew that it wasn't 100% of me… In 2020, I started painting and writing again, spending a lot of time in nature.. and watercolor painting, especially, brought something out of me that I had been looking for for a very long time. It suddenly felt like I had a purpose and I was alive — and whenever the door opened to me to become a member at Threshold Arts, I was just overwhelmed with the opportunity. I got to meet so many other creatives and people who were just 100% unapologetically living as their authentic selves. The Threshold Arts community offered the ability for me to make connections and friendships with other people that I'm really honored to have met. I dont feel like I'm looking for my purpose anymore, I feel like I am living it." - Kristy Johnson
